Vietnam’s long coastline in tropical region is an ideal destination for beachgoers and peace and quiet seekers. Crystal clear water, white sand stretch, numerous water activities, fresh seafood and luxury resorts are available from North to South in Vietnam. See below for the best 5 beach retreats in Vietnam.
Six Senses Con Dao
True to Six Senses’ philosophy of selecting remote yet accessible destinations in areas of outstanding natural beauty, Con Dao Vietnam is a breathtaking location, which has been protected for decades as a national and marine park. The resort is contemporary in design and reflects the essence of a traditional fishing village. All 50 villas rest along a mile of sandy beach, sheltered by hills behind and offering expansive vistas of the sea. They all have a spectacular infinity pool and all building materials are from natural, sustainable sources, and local where possible.
Other accolades: Six Senses Con Dao also features in my top 10 list of the world’s best hotels with private plunge pools.
Amanoi Resort – Ninh Thuan
In 2013, Aman made its debut in Vietnam with a contemporary beachside resort alongside a full-service Aman Spa. Named for the Sanskrit-derived word for ‘peace’ and noi meaning ‘place’, Amanoi is a tranquil retreat situated on a gorgeous white sand beach overlooking spectacular Vinh Hy Bay in Nui Chua National Park, northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. Amanoi is a unique contemporary beachside resort that offers total privacy in beautifully designed accommodations that are located in 31 Pavilions, a number with private swimming pools, and five Aman Villas, all positioned on the hillside with impressive views.
Other accolades: Amanoi also features in my list of the hottest luxury hotel openings of 2013.
Fusion Maia Da Nang Resort
The 87-room Fusion Maia Da Nang is a luxury spa property located on the beachfront between Da Nang and Hoi An. Its focus is on health and relaxation, and spa treatments are included in the rates. The lovely villas are modern and spacious, and all come with their own private plunge pools and gardens. Breakfast is free, and guests can choose to have it whenever and wherever they want. Three restaurants include a fine-dining option for dinner, a tea lounge, and a bar by the pool. The infinity pool overlooks the beach and is a nice spot for swimming and relaxing.
Six Senses Ninh Van Bay
The Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is a luxury boutique resort that offers 58 villas with private plunge pools and gorgeous sea views. The secluded property is reachable only by water; airport transfers by road and speedboat are convenient, but not included in rates. Villas feature beautiful wooden interiors with modern amenities, while rustic-style bathrooms have wooden bathtubs; those along the beachfront have paths running directly to the sand. The free breakfast buffet offers an excellent selection of dishes; lunch and dinner menus get more mixed reviews, but the resort’s dining experiences are memorable, as is the fantastic spa and the large main pool. The resort is expansive and the ultra-secluded Hill Top Villas are a fair way out, but bicycles and golf buggies are available.
Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc is Vietnam’s largest island measuring in at over 40 kilometers from north to south, and is arguably home to the country’s best beaches. It’s also closer to Cambodia than to Vietnam, but don’t mention that contentious fact while you’re there!
Chen Sea Resort & Spa is a beach-front, 4-star resort located in a quiet bay area of Phu Quoc Island. It offers private bungalows and villas and extensive spa facilities. Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc’s design is inspired by the calm environment. All bungalows and villas enjoy a calm setting and include verandas with sea views. Chen Sea Resort’s spa centre offers a mixture of traditional and modern treatments to relax and revitalize. Guests can enjoy different water sports activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kayak rides and beach volleyball. This resort is close to many attractions of Phu Quoc. Visitors can also visit black pepper and pearl farms, local night markets and take part in unique squid fishing tours come nightfall.
