With a 130-km coastline, the National Highway 1A and North-South Railway running through and Chu Lai airport next to, the central coastal province of Quang Ngai is favourable for receiving visitors travelling through water route, land, railway and even air route.
Quang Ngai has a population of 1.3 million people, one tenth of which being H’re, Cor and Cadong ethnic minorities who settle in one city and 13 district. Quang Ngai people are hardworking, creative and skilled in molding, pottery, brocade, brocade weaving and making sleeping mats.
There is a combination of rivers, hills, mountains, rapids, waterfalls and many relic sites such as the remains of Sa Huynh culture, Thien An pagoda, Chau Sa ancient citadel, Son My site, Dam Toan tunnel, and many stunning and romantic landscapes such as Thien An Niem Ha (A heavenly seal stamped on the river) and Co Luy Co Thon scenic relic. Quang Ngai is well-known for beautiful and clean beaches valuable for health tourism such as My Khe (Son Tinh), Sa Huynh (Duc Pho), Khe Hai – Dung Quat (Binh Son), Minh Tan, Duc Minh, and Tan Duc (Mo Duc).
Historical relic sites of Ba To, Ba Gia and Van Tuong uprisings, Dam Toai tunnel and Son My site are evidences for revolutionary heroism of Quang Ngai people. The province has 24 national historical and cultural relic sites and over 100 provincial relic sites.
Quang Ngai has special dishes that can not be found in other localities such as goby caught in Tra river, birds caught in sugarcane fields, Guong and malt candy, lung-shaped sugar and Don. Quang Ngai is also home to festivals such as Cau Ngu (fish praying) festival and boat racing of fishers and special customs of H’re, Cor and Cadong ethnic minorities.
The provincial tourism sector is seeking domestic and foreign investors in marine and forest eco-tourism projects which have been planned such as My Khe, Sa Huynh, Van Tuong and Ca Dam to exploit the province’s rich potential. With open policies, Quang Ngai’s tourism expects to receive cooperation of businesses both at home and abroad.
