Ninh Binh is in the southernmost of the northern delta. The province has many relics, landscapes and cultures, giving the province potential to develop tourism. Hoa Lu, ancient capital of the Dai Co Viet, the first centralized feudal state in the 10th century – with the three dynasties: Dinh – pre Le – Ly and three national heroes King Dinh Tien Hoang, King Le Dai Hanh and King Ly Thai To.
Around the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, there are relics and romantic landscapes. Tam Coc – Bich Dong caves is called Halong Bay in the mainland”. Bich Dong have been the second most beautiful cave after Huong Tich cave in Huong pagoda in Hanoi . Trang An eco-cave system has the largest number of caves in the country gathering in an area of thousands hectares. Trang An has 50 caves with water and Khong and Dot palaces and Noi Lam temple.
Bai Dinh pagoda, the largest Buddhist one in Vietnam covering 700 hectares with majestic beauty of the Tam The pagoda, and hundreds of relics, with the highlights being temple worshiping King Dinh Tien Hoang in Dich Long pagoda, Non pagoda, Tam Diep pass and Phat Diem stone church.
Ninh Binh also preserves many traditional handicrafts occupations, which turn out high-revenue products for tourism. On the focus are Ninh Van stone engraving village, Hai Ninh embroidery village, Kim Son rush village, Phuc Loc woodworks and Binh Khang ornamental stone village.
Ninh Binh province has many traditional festivals with the culture of the Red river delta. Major festivals are Truong Yen festival, Thai Vi temple festival, Duc Thanh Nguyen festival, Bai Dinh Pagoda festival, Bao Ban festival of Non Khe village and Dau temple festival.
Ninh Binh boasts of Van Long – the wetland ecological reserve, the largest in the northern delta with over 30 species of rare animals and plants recorded in Vietnam Red Book.
Cuc Phuong National Park – the first national park in Vietnam is considered as a large nature museum, a botanical garden and zoo and a thousand-year old tree. Moreover, Kenh Ga mineral spring, which is being exploit for healthcare.
For gastronomy, Ninh Binh is well-known for Kim Son noodles, Lai Thanh whisky, rare goat meat, whisky with goat’s testicles, Tong Truong anabas, Yen Mac fermented spring roll, Gia Vien shrimp paste, Van Long baked black fish, crispy rice cracker and Nho Quan wine.
